WHAT WE TAKE ON

Roofing Work We Handle

  • Roof leak repair: Tracing water back to where it is actually entering, which is rarely where the stain is. See roof leak repairs.
  • Roof flashing: Chimneys, skylights, vents, and roof-to-wall joints resealed or replaced. See roof flashing repair and installation.
  • Shingle replacement and repair: Lifted, cracked, or missing shingles, from a single section to a full slope. See shingle replacement and repair.
  • Flat and low-slope roofs: Modified bitumen and single-ply systems, ponding, blistering, and failed seams. See flat roof repairs.
  • Gutters and drainage: Gutters, downspouts, and the drainage that keeps water off the structure. See gutter and drainage system repairs.
  • Structural roof repair: Sagging roof lines, soft decking, and rafter work underneath the covering. See structural roof repairs.

Every job starts with an inspection and a written, itemized estimate, whether it turns out to be a single flashing detail or a full replacement. Call (323) 474-1088 to get one on the schedule.

What a Licensed Roofing Contractor Does

A roofing contractor is the licensed party responsible for the work on your roof: scoping what actually failed, pulling the permit where one is required, carrying the insurance that covers the crew on your property, and answering for the result afterwards. In California that license is issued by the Contractors State License Board, and roofing sits under the C-39 classification.

The license matters for practical reasons rather than ceremonial ones. An unlicensed party cannot pull a permit, so the work never gets inspected, and most re-roofing in California needs a permit. It also changes where the liability sits if someone is hurt on your roof or if the work has to be redone. Checking a license takes about a minute, and it is worth doing before any money changes hands.

Scope is the other half of the job. A roof that is letting water in may need a flashing detail corrected, a slope re-covered, or the decking underneath replaced, and those are very different pieces of work at very different prices. Reading which one you actually have is what the inspection is for, and it is why the estimate is itemized rather than a single number.

How We Work a Roofing Project

The same sequence on a small repair and a full replacement. The difference is how long each step takes, not whether it happens.

1

Inspection

We get on the roof where it is safe to, look at the covering, the flashings, the penetrations, and the drainage, and check the attic side where there is access.

2

Itemized estimate

Written out line by line: what is being repaired or replaced, the materials, and the cost of each part, so you can see what you are paying for and what is optional.

3

Permits where required

We pull the permit under our license when the scope calls for one, and we schedule the inspection that goes with it.

4

The work

Our own crew, with the property protected and the site cleared at the end of each day. If we open the roof and find something the inspection could not see, you hear about it before we carry on.

5

Walkthrough

We go over what was done, hand over the documentation, and point out anything on the roof worth keeping an eye on.

How to Check a Roofing Contractor License

This applies to us and to anyone else quoting your roof. It is free, it is public, and it takes about a minute.

  • Look the license up: Search the number on the Contractors State License Board site at cslb.ca.gov. Ours is 1144009. The record shows the status, the classification, and who it is issued to.
  • Check the classification: Roofing is C-39. A general B license can cover roofing as part of a larger project, but a specialty license in an unrelated trade cannot.
  • Confirm it is active: The board lists expired, suspended, and revoked licenses too. Active is the only status that counts.
  • Check the workers compensation line: The same record shows whether the contractor carries it or has filed an exemption. If a crew is coming onto your roof, you want it carried.
  • Ask for the insurance certificate: Liability coverage is separate from the license. Ask for a certificate and read the dates on it.
  • Match the name: The name on the license, the name on the estimate, and the name on the invoice should all be the same entity.
  • Keep the deposit small: California caps a home improvement down payment at 1,000 dollars or 10 percent of the contract price, whichever is less.
  • Get the scope in writing: An itemized written estimate before work starts is how a disagreement later gets settled on paper rather than from memory.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Why Work With Roof Repair & Construction Inc

What homeowners and property managers across Southern California get when they bring Roof Repair & Construction Inc onto a roofing project:

  • Licensed and insured: California contractor license 1144009, with proof of insurance we are happy to put in front of you.
  • Local crews: We work across Los Angeles and the surrounding communities, so a visit does not mean waiting on someone driving in from out of the area.
  • Our own crew: The people who scope the job are the people who carry it out. Roofing work is not handed to a subcontractor you have never met.
  • An itemized estimate: Written out line by line, so you can see what you are paying for before any work begins, and what is optional.
  • Permits pulled properly: Where the scope needs a permit we pull it under our license and schedule the inspection, rather than working around it.
  • Repair before replacement: If a repair will genuinely solve it, that is what we quote. A full replacement gets recommended when the roof actually needs one.

Roofing Contractor Questions

What property owners ask us most before hiring someone to work on a roof.

Is Roof Repair & Construction Inc. a licensed roofing contractor?

Yes. We hold California contractor license 1144009 and we are insured. You can look the number up yourself on the Contractors State License Board site at cslb.ca.gov, which will show the status, the classification, and who the license is issued to. We are happy to provide a certificate of insurance on request as well.

How do I check a roofing contractor license in California?

Go to cslb.ca.gov and search the license number or the business name. Check three things: that the status reads active, that the classification covers roofing (C-39, or a B general license where the roofing is part of a larger project), and that the workers compensation line shows coverage rather than an exemption if a crew will be on your roof. Then confirm the name on the license matches the name on your estimate.

Do I need a permit to repair or replace my roof?

A full re-roof almost always needs one, and many partial replacements do. Small repairs often do not. It varies by city, so the answer depends on your jurisdiction and the scope of the work. We tell you at the estimate stage whether your job needs a permit, and where it does we pull it under our license and schedule the inspection that goes with it.

What does it cost to have a roofing contractor look at my roof?

The inspection and the itemized estimate are free, with no obligation attached. What the work itself costs depends on what the inspection finds: a flashing detail, a section of covering, a full slope, or decking underneath are very different pieces of work. The estimate breaks it out line by line so you can see what each part costs and what is optional.

Do you work on commercial buildings as well as homes?

Yes. Alongside residential work we handle flat and low-slope commercial roofs, including modified bitumen and single-ply systems, ponding, blistering, and failed seams. See our flat roof repairs page for how that work is scoped.

What areas do you cover?

We work across Los Angeles and the surrounding communities, including Glendale, Pasadena, Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, Los Feliz, and Calabasas. The communities listed on this page each have their own page, and you can see the full list on our service areas page.
